POWER - An independent inquiry into Britain's democracy

Witness sessions

POWER is holding a series of hearings with individual witnesses as part of its evidence-gathering programme.

About Witness Sessions

Commissioners Bano Murtuja & Phil Carey addressing Michael Howard in BirminghamAt these sessions the Inquiry will hold formal hearings with individual witnesses about important areas of the investigation. Witness Session locations are varied in their political representation in parliament and each location is varied in terms of its history, level of political participation and social make-up.

The Commission will hear directly from around twenty five witnesses in this way, which will complement the submissions from the public and a series of approximately seventy interviews conducted by the Inquiry Research team.

On the Witness Session pages you can find out about arrangements for forthcoming Witness Sessions and access transcripts, audio files and other details from past Witness Sessions. Go to the Witness Session timetable to access details of past and future sessions.

Witness Sessions are open to the public

Audience participants addressing Michael Howard in BirminghamThere is opportunity for members of the audience to interact with both Witnesses and Commissioners as the Inquiry wants to hear your views as well as those of the formal witnesses. The audience will be invited to give feedback to the Inquiry through their questions and comments on the day.

The Inquiry has also planned a series of other events dedicated to gaining input from people into its work. See About Us.

Publicised dates and locations may be subject to change, and more sessions may be added as the work of the Inquiry develops.
